From burnout to balance!

I didn’t set out to become a coach — I arrived here the long way round: via Education & Training, careers coaching in both a mental-health and university setting, plus my own experience of burnout.

Like many people, I found the COVID years incredibly tough and my mental health took a nosedive. However, the pandemic also gave me something unexpected: the time and space to really reflect. When I looked honestly at my life, I realised that although I was coping, I wasn’t actually thriving because “exhausted yet functioning” had become my default setting. I didn’t want that. Yes, we were living through COVID, but underneath it all I was still simply tired, overstretched and unhappy. I wanted something better. What I craved was balance and joy. Much more joy!

I’d long been curious about Positive Psychology (PP+), so during lockdown I fell down the rabbit hole of webinars on happiness habits and wellbeing. Somewhere between the science and the stories, the penny dropped. I didn’t just want to learn this stuff I wanted to live it, use it and teach it. That was my lightbulb moment. That's when I chose to pivot my career.

Before qualifying as a coach, I spent 25 years in education — designing curricula & training and mentoring teachers, as well as supporting adult students through all kinds of personal and professional challenges. I was the classic education workhorse: dedicated, driven . . . then disheartened and ultimately depressed. That lived experience shapes everything I do now. I know exactly what it’s like to look capable on the outside whilst quietly dying on the inside. My job had started to drain way more out of me than I was getting back. It was absolutely time for a change!

My coaching approach is grounded in PP+ evidence but delivered in a very human way. Think of me as your “bossy big sister”: warm, honest and supportive, but not afraid to challenge the patterns that may be holding you back.

You deserve a life that feels meaningful, grounded and genuinely yours: not one driven by pressure, perfectionism or the relentless pull of the “should‑stick.”

If you’re ready to explore what’s possible, with clarity, humour and someone who’s walked the path herself . . . I’d love to work with you.
